The World’s First Fashion Show to Exclusively Feature 3D Printed Designs
On April 18th, new 3D printed creations from renowned designers Elvis Pompilio, Niccolò Casas and Daniel Widrig made their debut during a special catwalk event in Leuven, Belgium. 3D printed designs have appeared in London and Paris Fashion Weeks, but this event marked the first time that a collection of 3D printed creations by different designers was unveiled on the same runway. The fashion show of 3D printed designs formed part of the World Conference on additive manufacturing, and was hosted by .MGX and Materialise.
In addition to the work of these celebrated designers, the creations of the twenty finalists in the Hats Off to 3D Printing design contest also headed down the catwalk. From among their 3D printed hats and hair accessories, Mark Bloomfield was declared the winner for his creation entitled “Daisy”. Heading the jury was master milliner Elvis Pompilio; Didier Vervaeren, former director of the Ter Kameren Fashion School; and Wilfried Vancraen, CEO of Materialise.
